No Spend November Tips

No Spend November Tips

Being recently engaged and starting the wedding planning process, it dawned on me that my taste is for the finer things in life and my savings are flopping. So, my fiancé and I are attempting a No Spend November and here are some tips and tricks from what we are learning.

Cancel your subscription boxes (all of them!)

I will admit that I do have a little addiction to subscription boxes. How could you resist a present to yourself every month? My credit cards however HATE these surprise charges at varying dates throughout the month and I hate paying that bill. On November 1st, I cancelled every subscription box I was paying for (yes, even FabFitFun)! A small but meaningful victory towards saving money.

Meal Prep

Meal prepping is a key part in setting yourself up for success when it comes to eating healthy and saving money. The grocery shopping that is needed to properly meal prep can be a little daunting at first but by doing it weekly we really got into the groove and had a great routine going. It can be shocking how much you can get at the grocery store and how little you really spend compared to eating out. Now that we see the benefits of prepping our food at home we will try to use eating out as a more infrequent treat!

Try Prime Pantry for a convenient way to grocery shop from home!

Refresh Your Wardrobe

I believe that a “no spend” month is easiest when seasons are transitioning. Either October/November or April/May are perfect months in the northeast because you get to pull out all of your seasonal clothes from storage. Let me tell you, I am a summer girl but I love a comfy, cozy sweater. I’m in heaven when the leaves start falling and I can pull on a sweater that I haven’t seen in 8 months. Having clothes that feel brand new are almost as good as having brand new ones!

If you use any of these No Spend November tips let me know how they work for you! Also, if you have any tips or tricks to help me out please drop a comment!
